Writers all have a way in which they express themselves in their writings. In Marjane Satrapi's case, she expresses herself by making "Persepolis" a comic book, rather than a novel. By making it a comic book, she shows that she still considers herself as independent as she was when she was younger. Through what she tells us in "Persepolis" it is clear that she has always done things the way she wanted to. Many would have expected her to write a novel instead of a comic book, but by writing the comic book, it is only another example of her strong personality and desire to do things the way she sees best.
